What Is A Tax Preparation Service

Tax preparation services are full-service offerings to complete your annual tax filing forms for the IRS and, if needed, state tax agencies. Unlike online and desktop tax preparation software where you do your own taxes, a tax preparation service will review your tax forms and complete your taxes for you.

Some tax preparation services are available through local offices in-person. Others give you access to a preparer or team of preparers online through a mobile app or website.

    Jackson Hewitt Ease Of Use

Like many other DIY tax filing companies, Jackson Hewitt makes filing a return relatively simple by asking a series of interview-style questions. But maybe too simple?

While you have the option of having the software guide you through all sections, you can also navigate straight to the sections you want to complete and skip those you believe donât apply to you. Thatâs useful for people with some knowledge of their tax situation and the income, deductions, and credits that apply to them. But it could lead less experienced users to skip over important sections.

Jackson Hewitt customers can have the software guide them through all sections of their tax return, or skip ahead to the areas that apply to them.

If youâre ever unsure about how to answer a question or whether it applies to you, embedded links are included on many of the interview forms. Click on one to bring up a short explanation and the forms and a pop-up screen will have more information.

You can also click the Help menu at the top of the screen to search Jackson Hewittâs knowledge base for an answer, connect with customer support via Live Chat or email, or reach them via phone at 800-234-1010. Just keep in mind that customer support can generally answer product-related questions or help with technical difficultiesâthey donât provide tax advice.

As part of my review, I went through the process of preparing three sample returns. Hereâs how long it took me to get from start to filing for each one:

People are always looking for quick and easy ways of getting cash. While there are many places to cash a personal check near me, big-box retail stores with money centers are some of the closest. Walmart is known for lower prices than traditional grocery or department stores, making it a popular choice among budget-conscious shoppers. It is also a great option for check cashing. However, there is a lot to know regarding your local Walmart check cashing policy.

We will go over the requirements and some other important things to know about the Walmart cash center.

2nd ‘tax’ on receipts confuses customers at new Walmart

    Yes, quite a few actually.

Exclusions include most food items, clearance items, rollback items, price matches, tires, photo orders, gift cards, travel purchases, shipping charges, marketplace items, and some bundles.

The food items where you CAN get a 10% discount include fresh fruits, vegetables and regular-priced general food merchandise.

Believe it or not, tax time is rolling around again, and while many dread it, there are others who view their income tax refund as the biggest cash bonanza of the year and they are rushing to cash in.

This is especially true for lower-income Americans who qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit, which is designed to help offset the effect of payroll taxes.

This hasn’t been lost on Wal-Mart Stores . The world’s largest retailer has been taking steps to broaden the financial services it offers to its customers who are underserved by traditional banks and financial institutions.

The retailer has been opening up Wal-Mart MoneyCenters in its stores, where customers can cash checks, purchase prepaidVisadebit cards and pay bills using CheckFree, a company that helps people pay bills electronically.

Now, Wal-Mart is expanding the services it offers at tax time. This year, more than 3,000 Walmart stores will have either a Jackson-Hewitt or an H& R Block kiosk inside to help shoppers prepare and file their tax returns, and all consumers who qualify to submit a Form 1040EZ can do so free of charge.

Form 1040EZ is generally used by single or married taxpayers who claim no dependents and who do not itemize deductions. Customers can file a free 1040EZ at Walmart stores with Jackson Hewitt kiosks throughout tax season, but stores with H& R Block kiosks will only offer it until the end of February.

In Walmarts latest move to offer financial services, it will make customers tax refunds available in cash at about 3,000 stores.

Walmart, the worlds largest retailer, will not charge a fee for the cash pickup, but does charge for cashing checks. It acknowledged that it could get a boost by helping to put cash in customers wallets at a time of sluggish sales and customer traffic declines.

We know tax refunds can be one of the largest financial payouts of the year for many of our customers, and the last thing they want is to wait for a refund check to arrive and then spend money on unnecessary fees, said Daniel Eckert, senior vice president of services for Walmarts United States division.

The service could help people without bank accounts get their refunds more quickly and avoid high check-cashing fees. Walmart says the process will take the same time as if a customer filed electronically and received the money as a direct deposit, which could take a week.

The company, based in Bentonville, Ark., has been expanding its financial services. In April, it introduced a money transfer service that it says will cut fees for its low-income customers by up to 40 percent compared with similar services elsewhere.
