Editors note: This content is provided by the Internal Revenue Service. Consult your financial or tax adviser regarding your individual situation.
The Internal Revenue Service has free tax forms and publications on a wide variety of topics. Because of continued growth in electronic filing, the availability of free options to taxpayers and to reduce costs, the IRS discontinued the automatic mailing of paper tax packages last tax season.
If you need IRS forms and publications, here are four easy methods for getting them.
The Internet: You can access forms and publications on the IRS website 24 hours a day, seven days a week, at IRS.gov.
Taxpayer Assistance Centers: There are 401 TACs across the country where the IRS offers face-to-face assistance to taxpayers, and where taxpayers can pick up many IRS forms and publications. Visit IRS.gov and go to “Contact My Local Office” on the Individuals page to find a list of TAC locations by state. On the “Contact My Local Office” page, you can also select “Office Locator” and enter your ZIP code to find the IRS walk-in office nearest you, as well as a list of the services available at specific offices.
Consider Filing Online To Avoid Delays
Due to COVID-19, the CRA may take 10 to 12 weeks to process paper returns. The CRA will process them in the order they are received.
If you choose to file by paper, file as early as you can to avoid any interruptions to any benefit and credit payments.
COVID-19 may cause delays in processing paper returns, and processing changes to your return, as well as delivering notices of assessment and cheques in the mail. The CRA will process paper returns and any changes requested in the order it receives them.
Since these delays do not impact the processing of electronic returns, the CRA encourages you to file your 2020 return or any adjustments online. This will help you get any refund faster and avoid interruptions to any benefit and credit payments. If you are registered for direct deposit, you will receive your payments without delay.
You can file as early as February 22, 2021 with NETFILE. The CRA has a list of NETFILE certified tax preparation software to help you with your taxes, some of which are free. You may also be able to make online changes to your T1 tax return using the ReFILE service directly from your EFILE or NETFILE certified tax preparation software, or with our Change my return service available in My Account.
Filing online is fast, easy, and convenient.

What Is Form : Us Individual Tax Return

How Form 1040 Is Structured
If youve determined that your small business can use Form 1040 to file its taxes, you now need to understand how information is organized on the form itself. This will give you a better sense of how the data from your business records impacts your tax calculation.
You may remember that the IRS used to use Forms 1040-A and 1040-EZ to file taxes. After Congress passed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, the IRS switched to a single 1040 form. You will no longer see 1040-A or 1040-EZ forms available.
In the end, you will use Form 1040 to report your personal and professional earnings and expenses. Youll also use the tax tables on the form to calculate your tax liability. That tax liability could be negative, in which case the IRS owes you a tax refund. Or, if the number is positive, it will tell you how much you owe the government.
What Is A Tax Transcript
A tax transcript is not an exact duplicate of your tax return as you’d see from a photocopy, but it does contain a summary of the information that you submitted with your return. The IRS provides free copies of certain types of tax transcripts if you access them online, or if the IRS mails them. But if you want an exact duplicate of your tax return mailed to you, you’ll have to pay a fee.
